A few notes from a busy period including:
6 majors sent "alerts" re Federer's win & only 4 re Serena Williams win. USA Today sent one for Serena but not for Federer?
Only Fox News had the Steve McNair story as an "alert": "FORMER NFL QUARTERBACK STEVE MCNAIR REPORTEDLY KILLED IN NASHVILLE SHOOTING"
"Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Not Running for Re-Election" was covered with "alerts" from all
Only Fox News and ABC thought Biden's trip was "alert" worthy, "Vice President Joe Biden Arrives in Iraq on Unannounced Trip"
Looks like CNN beat TMZ on the death of Billy Mays. Guess that's a consolation prize in the "got it first contest"; missed MJ's death but....
and of course we were swamped with Michael Jackson alerts, a summary of which can be seen under the heading "Editors Picks". Can't help but wonder how many more we will be adding over the next few days |

It goes without saying that breaking news concerning Michael Jackson is of the greatest value for me. All the rest about tennis and so on seems to be fading against that piece of news. I can't believe that Michael is not with us any longer. Just yesterday I downloaded his greatest music masterpieces on search on torrents http://www.picktorrent.com . I was really astonished. I just counted your alerts on Michael Jackson on the page you set up. 30 alerts from 7 or 8 news sources does seem excessive and I bet there will be more tomorrow. Unbelievable.

Good catch on the USAToday tennis coverage. That is odd. I would have thought the Federer story was much bigger than the Williams one. That being said I am not sure either one deserved breaking news alerts.

I see ABC has the most recent Michael jackson update as an alert but not CNN. You might have to take back your earlier comment that CNN had become the MJ Network. Oh wait - I just turned on the TV to CNN and no surprise - All Michael , All the time

really am surprised that only Fox covered McNair's death with an alert. I know he was retired, but he was a great quarterback and he did lead his team to the Super Bowl and his death was a murder. Too many celebrities in 10 days I guess.
